During hunting season in autumn, Norwegian hunters and harvesters have access to fantastic food sources. Locally sourced and healthy game meat can be transformed into delicious and festive meals or tasty everyday food. We take you through the entire process:

Luring and hunting

How do you hunt for large game animals by luring? In our traditional 'lavvo' tent, we sit around the fire and learn how to lure deer, while professional hunting instructors talk about hunting and fishing in Norway.

Hunting

How do you shoot a wild animal? The instructors use a simulator to explain important elements of game hunting and you get to try both a shotgun and rifle to shoot such small game as grouse and pheasant and large game animals like moose and deer.

Slaughtering large game animals

Which parts are edible? You get to watch a demonstration of how to slaughter and carve an entire deer at our slaughtering facility. Learn about the different cuts of meat and what kinds of foods they can be used for. Finally, you are given the opportunity to buy meat to bring home with you or to prepare in the teaching kitchen.

Cooking with game

Learn how to cook the game together with a chef in our training kitchen or simply pull up a chair at the long table and enjoy food from the forest in the peisestua lounge.
