The most famous landmark, Torghatten, is located just outside Brønnøysund on the island of Torget. The mountain is famous for the hole that goes right through it that was created during the Ice Age. The hole is no less than 160 metres wide and 35 metres high.
“It's truly a unique sight and I've never seen anything like it,” says the hotel manager. You can reach the hole on a well-marked trail that takes around 30 minutes of easy hiking.
If you've ever seen the TV series Himmelblå on NRK, you probably have a good idea about what the nature here looks like. The series was originally shot on the island of Ylvingen, which has attracted lots of visitors to the area.
The hike up to the hole in the mountain can easily be done in an afternoon. You can also hike up to the top of Torghatten and enjoy views of the archipelago.
